  of course it’s like hell….thats the way its suppose to be….i’m not paying high taxes so you can have nice cool air conditioner and sleep in a nice comfortable bed… this is not a 5 star hotel….THIS IS JAIL!…the sooner you realize that the better…..and once you leave hopefully you wont come back.

  Is scary to see how our society view those that are in of need help. Is true that a jail is not a five star hotel. But, it should not be a place either to make them suffer, after all who are we to judge anyone before looking at our own mistakes!!!!!!!

  Passaic County Jail is a hellhole, man. And most of the inmates there aren’t locked up for violent crimes. Most of them are there for drug offenses, and MOST of those are just possession cases (not distribution) and are in need of help or a rehab. There is NO rehabilitation going on at Passiac County Jail. It’s a hellish, dirty, rodent and roach infested place.

  I was a n imate on remand as a federal prisoner from May 06 - Dec 06, I am not expecting 5 star, but its a hell hole, rodents, mice etc everywhere, dirty, no heat and treated like dirt, I was in for trafficking drugs, first offence and was treated like a murdere, the place needs to be shut down, its a disgrace, I went to 2 detenetion centres, and a federal prison after Passaic and they were like holiday camps compared to Passaic!

  Another reason not to make people suffer in jail is because not all of them are guilty.
  My first wife set me up on a false charge, and while waiting to get out, I suffered like hell.
  Even though the court found me innocent, I learned right then and there that jails should not be “hellholes”, if only to protect them from people like my ex-wife.
  So to all of you here who think jails should be made for extreme suffering, I guarantee you that if you are ever placed in one of those hellholes even for a few days, you will change your tune in a heartbeat… And this is also why I am against the death penalty, not because I feel sorry for killers, but because the justice system is still too imperfect to guarantee that all of those put to death are guilty.

  first of i know what its like to be in the passaic county jail.its jail your supposta to hate the conditions of the jail if we made it nice for you they would keep comming back,and the way i have seen the same people come back time and time again that makes them just plain stupid because there still comming back i guess criminals will never their lessons.the condidtions at the jail should stay the way they are if the officers can handle it in plain words stop bitching

  First of all police in Paterson is band of idiotic drons. they arrested my wife on parking ticket only because she wanted to pay it and guy was not willing to give her change! and than dirty jail with all this stuff! Of course judge let her go free as soon as she speak to him! What a marons!

  Passaic County Jail should be closed. If health and fire officials took the time to walk through that piss pot I’m sure it would be shut down that day. The conditions are deplorable and the guards are sadistic little pricks. An overhaul in the buildings structure and retraining of the guards is of the utmost importance!!!

  The Worst Place on Earth.
  Jail isin’t supposed to be cozy but even dog pounds for condemed strays have way better living conditions.
  I was locked up in that shit hole from 6/07 to 1/08 for a minor possession charge. Everytime I thought it couldent get any worse, it did. In August it was 120 degrees (no bullshit) due to a broken ventalation shaft that hasen’t worked in years. In January (due to no heat source) it got down to 15 degrees. 24 hour lockdown with 4 inmates in a cell meant for 2. Pancakes served with roaches stuck between the cold cakes and slop with mouse shit mixed in. Shake-downs with menacing attack dogs and pepper spray attacks that made it unbreathable when the guards felt someone in the pod needed a time-out. The guards were in human robots. The conditions make a rough situation unbearable and the daily fights and sucicide attempts are a constant result of this. There can’t be a worse county jail in the USA.

  I JUST PRAY ONE DAY, ANYONE WILL STOP LOOKING OR BELEIVING OR DO WHAT MAN KIND SAY, AND START BELEIVE IN GOD, AND START TAKING LIFE SERIOUS, I DO NOT LIKE TO HEAR NO ONE IN JAIL OR I DO NOT LIKE TO SEE ANY JAILS, NEVER BEEN IN JAIL, BUT I DO BELEIVE IN GOD, NEVER WILL I WANT TO SEE JAIL, I HAD A FAMILY MEMBER BEEN IN JAIL, FOR FALSE CHARGES AND NEVER HAD A RECORD, THERE HAS BEEN CHARGES PLANT ON THEM AS A FALSE CHARGE, AND THE JUDGE DO NOT LISTEN TO BOTH SIDE OF STORY IT ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE STATE TO GIVE INNOCENT PERSON A CONVICTION FOR NOTHING, AS ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBER WAS IN THE PASSAIC COUNTY JAIL, AND THE THINGS THEY SEE IN JAIL, THAT IS NASTY SLEEPY WITH RATS, YES WE DO PAY TAXES AND PAY SALARY, WHY DO GET MONEY FOR THIS JAIL AND HAVE IT NASTY AND GIVE FOOD TO THE PRISONER THAT YOU GET GRANTS FOR AND FUNDS FOR THIS JAIL, WHERE IS THE REST OF THE MONEY GOES THE JAIL SHOULDNT BE NASTY OR THE FOOD SHOULDNT BE NASTY AND COLD WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING TO

  PASSAIC NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN …

  Passaic needs to be shut down, its a hell hole, people who think that jail shoule be terrible need to go there themselves, even for a night at the Passiac and you wil lbe crying!!!

  Some people are set up, some people are not guilty and have to go through the shit hole of Passaic.

  First time offence, cant beleive the hell we all went throu. Cold food every day,(If you call it that) no heating, so up to 120 in summer on heatwaves, and freezing cold in winter. 1 blanket, 1 sheet and no pillow, thats all you get. 1 toilet and 1 shower between 14 girls and no hot water, as never worked. Rodents, mice running around all the time to. 24 hour lock down, never out your cell, went 2 weeesk without any exercise, youa re entitked to an hour a day. Officers aspeak to you like crap and think they are it, well they aint, if they were oj they would realize what the place is like. I wouldnt want anyone to go through what I have expreienced. Its def wthe worst jail in US.

  If you are sentenced to 6months in jail it is certainly NOT your first offense. Maybe some hard time will stop your pattern of “repeat offending” once and for all.

  People complain about jail? They are put there for a reason! That reason would be that they can’t seem to follow the rules that keep themselves and others safe. They have no respect for themselves or others, and therefore they repeatedly break the law. So where should they go? The Hilton? Maybe if they experience the “ugly” side of life, they will begin to realize how precious their freedom is and start to tow the line. Most of these people have been given chance after chance…and they keep taking drugs, stealing, selling, whatever it may be. They need to realize that there are consequeces to their actions…jail is a surefire way to get that point accross!

  I lived in Passaic and Hackensack, had no IDEA the jail was that bad. With some of the illiteracy on this board maybe you ALL are headed there. BUT…

  1. The War on Drugs is a miserable failure.

  2. prostitution is natural and should be legal like in Europe.

  3. Without the WoD there’d be a LOT less hoes!

  I got my apt. broken into at the Passaic manor. Some skel took my electronics and checks (was clever took the ones way down in the sequence.) Within a month, the bank called me about funky withdrawals. The no-account fool had an electric company “energy manager” badge for ID with my name (which is not Washington or Jefferson if you get my drift) and was cashing my check. Even cashed a paycheck! When I asked the Beeyotch manager at Fidelity (now Walkallovya) the description she said he was an “old white guy with no teeth in his mouth). when I went to the bank and SAW the ID she said “whoops he’s black.” I got the money back from the bank (they tried to withdraw it to cover there losses!) but still, it galls me.

  I was in PCJ for 3 months. What was even worse was the fact that i was pregnant at the time. Just being there was the worst thing in the world. There are rats all over the place. The showers are usually burning hot or ice cold. The food was crap. And it gets ice cold in there and they don’t do nothing about it. Yeah it’s jail and it’s not supposed to be nice but at least for pregnant women they really need to make the conditions a little more bearable because it’s the woman’s (or man’s) fault for being in there. Not the unborn child inside of her. And from what others have told me it’s the worse jail around. People have been to prisons that had better conditions then Passaic County Jail

  The place sucks, i was there for a few months and the only thing i seen is cops beating on inmates and waiting until they healed up to take them to the nurse. I seen a fight break out and cops came in took the wrong people and beat them down badly and one of them add to go the hospital that night. I bet they felt pretty stupid when they realized it was the wrong people. They act like god in there and one day hopefully somebody will put them in there place, but who is going to take inmates side over the law

  Well people here we go ! I was just in the county jail this week and guess what? The ventilation is not the only thing foul! I was appalled by the cold, sometimes burnt food ,old vegetables and tastless juice served in there considering that they make so much money off the the inmates with charges and fees for almost everything especially commissary with all the taxes they charge and the juice that they give the inmates was almost like drinking flavored dirty water. if I knew that I would be able to get somtnhing else to eat in there I wouldn’t of taking 85% of the food trays distributed because they were either cold, or just appeared to have been food that had been sitting for god knows how long. I asked alot of the inmates why do they except the trays and they simply stated ” because they wont feed us any thing at all to punish us. There were alot of officers that appeared to have some kind of egopower trip of some sort espeacially when it came to someone smaller then them. They would taunt and antagonize as to look for a reason to assualt an inmate. I was so shock after seeing what they had done to one young kid whom it was his first time and wow you thought rodney king got a beating. and to top it all of they charged the kid with an assault on a officer charge as to cover up the real reason behind his wounds. They placed the young boy in solitary confinement till he healed. wow. I really think the state needs to keep a closer eye on not only the jail but alot of the officers especially officer Barrise and the guys in S>O>R>T and receiving . I dont place my real name for my saftey…. but i really think that alot or may be all of the officers should be tested for steroids as per a friend of mine who is an P.C.J. officer himself stated ” alot shoot steroids just incase of an incounter with an inmate bigger than themselves.” MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL WHETHER GUILTY OR NOT

  Imagine what ppl go through in 3rd world countries. u talk about its 120 deg in a jail. its 120 everyday. no running water. no electric. no medical supplies. you did the best year of your life there. u learned to appreciate the smaller things in life & to maintain in society(democracy). they live their whole lives like u did in PCJ times 1000. Go army .

  Seriously, the Midwest(a lot of places in Africa too) is a hell hole. 90% of troops either don’t make it back in one piece, or do not make it home period. Play your role and stay home. Even if you have to suffer from the wait of doing the right thing. God will bless you. See for yourself.

  I served in Iraq and its 125 degrees there everyday. Food sucks we were just glad to eat. Flies every where, your life in danger, not pleasent, But you dont hear me though
  Think about what our men and women serving our country go through, similar and worst and they, we volunteer to proudly serve and fight for our country. Yall are mad cause you did some time and it was crappy.

  ok im speaking from experience ive been in passaic county a few times the longest being 6 months a few of those months included a heat wave where tempertures reached 115 degrees its disgusting in there nasty as can be now i was just in there cuz i like to get high no real crimes and most of the people in there are fuckin animals but if u could see the conditions first hand u could see not even an animal deserves to live in a place as nasty as that
