Passaic County Clerk Karen Brown is pleased to announce that land records recorded in the Passaic County Clerk’s Office will be available to the public over the internet by logging on to http://records.passaiccountynj.org. This site gives the public access to property and related land records available at the County Clerk’s Office in Passaic County. The public will be able to access records archived from December 1, 2000 to the present. The number of viewable documents from prior years will increase as the Passaic County Clerk’s Office progresses with its back file conversion of older documents. The website is now in its pilot phase, which will allow the public to view index information and the first page of the land record’s image at no cost. After the pilot phase, the public will be provided the option of downloading a copy of the full document for a fee.
This project was made possible by the PARIS grant program which awards grant money to support the preservation and archiving of records in county and municipal offices. During Ms. Brown’s tenure as the Clerk, the department has been awarded nearly 1.2 million dol lars in grant funds for various projects within the office. The New Jersey Division of Archives and Records Management, who administers the PARIS Grant, commended the County Clerk’s office for implementing a project embracing several high priorities of the State Records Committee.
“I am proud that the County Clerk’s Office is playing a major role in making the public’s access to information easier and more convenient, said Ms. Brown.
