  First of all, you are commenting on the wrong post. This post about Elsa being nominated Patersonian of the year, the Three Kings celebration. The moderator should delete your comment because is not within the topic being discussed.

  I dont know about stealing but I do know she takes financial advantage of the parade. My point is she should stop acting like she is doing this from the bottom of her heart because she it not.

  I was born, raise and still live in Paterson and I just cant see what she has done to be selected Patersonian of the year. Its like my man Dominican ata la maseta said in a previous comment, its all about Joey Torres spliting the Dominican vote in Paterson. I hope that we know better and will stick with real candidates not only for the Dominican community but for Paterson as a whole.

  I am a Political Science major and I am planning to write my thesis on how people from a community are used by others to keep their own community on check based on whats happening here with Elsa.

  This is the most depressing thing i have ever seen. A currupt politician getting camera time to award a prize that is destroying the education system. English in this country must come first becauase we are a country that moves toward the future.

  People, people, people…except for a select few, most of these comments are a clear indication of why (as a community) we continue to lag behind. Indeed we have made some progress, particularly over the past 5 years. However, the constant, sad, and seemingly innate need to bicker over matters of such little substance continues to hurt us in our quest for overall success. There are pros and cons to the qualifying characteristics of all individuals. But, must we indulge these neagtive comments? The fact of the matter is that despite her nationality, she has been a pillar of the community and she would not be recognized if the situation was to the contrary. I believe the pervasive issue here is the level of commitment on Ms. Mantilla’s part acceptable to each of us as individuals. Oh, and one last thing…there have been pretty impressing strides in the abolishment of corrupt individuals over the past few years…I beleive in our system of justice and the insinuation of corruption (which in my opinion is being used as a replacement for the idea not understanding the motives behind an individual politicians agenda) is an insult to the very foundation of what this country stands for. Let’s stand beside ourselves and applaud the work, seen and unseen, of this Patersonian. And if any of you continue to feel the same…there’s always room at the top…STEP UP!

We should be using this website for more important things such as the garbage all over the city of Paterson (no offense), teenagers without a place to go, cops talking in corners and fights just a block away from them (no offense to “good cops” whom really care for the city and its people), licquor stores in front of or by elementary schools, licquor stores selling licquor to minors, etc,. Who cares about a parade that the only objectives are to show how ignorant some people can be- you have young teenagers and little girls dancing like strippers and people tossing all kind of ridicules objects into the air, loud music that doesn’t really represent the country- Do you see any pride on that? She manages the account-good for her, she is a deputy- good for her- do I care? No. Now do I care about “My beloved Paterson”? 100%. Instead of wasting your time with this “lady”- spend it thinking about what can you do to help your city!   This is my opinion and please respect it. I’m Dominican and my husband is Black. We voted for Councilman Julio Tavarez and Councilman Rigo Rodriguez. Next year, we plan to vote for somebody else because our taxes are too high, the streets are a mess, neighborhood and quality of life is horrible, and we can get a better deal in another town. We need to hold our elected officials accountable, if they are not doing their job, let’s vote them OUT!
