  I wont go as far as saying that, but the desfile supposed to be a non-profit, but she has never provided an annual report for expenses and revenue. There is something fishy about that.

  Elsa,

  The truth is that you have to provide reports of expenses and revenue for the Desfile and you have never done that. The Desfile is a non-profit for corporation and by law you are suppose to make that report every year; but you havent!

  Lets be realistic here. Since you are not providing a report of expenses so nobody knows how that money is being used and if you are not telling us it must be because something is fishy.

  Tell us who pay for the toys. Was it from your personal account? Was it from your business account? Wast it from Desfile account? Did Joey pay for them? Who pay for it?

  Come on, you are a “public official” now and must answer to the higher authority of the PEOPLE not your usual click of Dominican sell-outs.

  Who pay for the swearin at La Neve’s? Did you pay for it from your personal account? from your business account? From Desfile account? Did Joey pay for it? Did the City of Paterson pay for it? Who pay for it?

  Come on Elsa, the people want answers to these questions and if you cant answer them we have to believe that you are doing something you are not suppose to.

  The funds from the Dominican Parade should not be used to promote someone’s personal agenda. Why isn’t the Herald News investigating this issue. If someone claims Elsa is doing something she is not suppose to, they ought to contact the IRS therefore this big drama can finally be resolved. We need the police or the FBI involved. I agree, the parade isn’t nobody’s personal piggy bank.

  In response to all the comments that are listed above which are made incoherently. Instead of commenting using Nicknames or anonymously, why aren’t you identifying yourselves? First of all, before you have the courage to ask so many questions on a website, why don’t you direct yourself to the proper people? The address for the Dominican Parade’s Office is 368 21st Avenue, Paterson, NJ 07501. and its email is: desfiledrnj@aol.com. The records are public and everyone knows that, you can gladly make an appointment with the President to see all the files and all the taxes that are filed year after year. If the institution is being used in a way that is not appropriate it would not be in function after 20 years. It is sad that after all the hard work that Elsa has done, there are people who talk nonsense and actually take the time to comment on other peoples good deeds. How do you expect to keep culture united when you are trying to bad mouth one of the cities most influential woman? Think before you comment and direct yourself to the proper people. FYI: there is an annual meeting for all the board of directors and ex-presidents where they are informed of the year’s financial report. If you wish to seek this information, join the organization and you won’t have anymore doubts! This website won’t give you the answers you need. Be brave and stop using nick names and show your face, you will be given credit as an individual in that way but how you are doing it now, is just plain nonsense.   Mr. Fazzinga,

  The correct manner to publish an annual report is not at an unpublicized secret meeting, but at the annual gala where hundreds of people are present and the report is published in the annual journal (by the way I hear the journal is done by one of Elsa’s daughters and they tell me she doesn’t do it pro bono). This is what REPUTABLE organizations do.

  So you see, your statement makes you sound ignorant of how things work and it only makes me and the public at large believe even more that Elsa and her family (that’s you right?) are dipping into the Desfile’s coffers.

  By the way that whole statement about keeping our community united and not talking about someone when they are doing something wrong just because they happened to be from the same country I am is just plain stupid. I might be Dominican but I am not a pendejo!

  A ta la maseta and Cibao hit it right on the nail. Elsa has not been forthright how the money that is donated is being used. If you are using it the right way, then you shouldn’t have a problem providing the Herald News and even this website with a copy of the Parade’s annual report.

  Elsa wears many hats. Before it was only a private one and a non-profit, but she also has a public one as a deputy mayor. Therefore, in order to be clear from all wrongdoing the correct thing to do is to let the public know who funds her events. Who pay for her lavish swearing-in ceremony? If she cant answer this simple question and provide proof then we know what really is going on.

  We have the right to ask any public figure/official what they are up to and how they are spending funds they collect on behalf of a non-profit organization like the Dominican Parade. To say the least, I don’t think Elsa should continue running the parade since she is now involved in politics and that would a conflict of interest. Nevertheless, she has used the parade as a political tool for quite some time. Who remembers that fiasco with Sandoval a couple of years ago?

  The problem for Elsa and any other Dominican pseudo-leader is that the Dominicans of today are not the Dominicans that Elsa and others lead astray in the 90’s. Dominicans have come a long. We have endured the mischief of others and come out stronger and wiser. We are now professionals (or will become professionals, I am a pre-law student at Rutgers University) and the game has changed.

  We will not allow to be lead astray by anyone. Especially one of our own. So, when you state that we should not just keep our mouths shut or go down to Elsa’s place to talk to her, I tell you that it is not our duty to go fishing for information about the Parade, that responsibility rest on the shoulders of the executive director of the organization. However, it is our moral obligation to denounce those that cause harm to our community. If we don’t speak up, who will speak for the Dominican Community? Not you, that’s for sure. You would like our comments to be censured. How about the good comments? Should those be censored as well? We don’t live in a police state Ms. Rodriguez. This is the great United States of America where ideas, free will and free speech run like a mighty river.

  So I tell you and anyone places a comment on this thread, it is a new dawn for Dominicans in the City of Paterson and in this great nation where I was born. May God bless us all and protect us from those that aim to harm us.

PatersonOnline is a fairly new site and IT will NOT provide you with answers..instead of wasting your precious time writting comments on this site, go to the direct source..or are you intimidated? When you say things on here you should have the proof because in the long run you will look like a fool. This is not a GAME! Dont discriminate her for being a pioneer for Dominicans…she came here many years ago with nothing and look what great contributions she has brought to the community.   Famous… lol! For all the wrong reasons. Elsa will not release a report because she doesn’t have one and because she doesn’t have to. If Dominicans are not sophisticated enough to request one, then it is their fault and that will be their doom in this country. Some Dominicans are becoming more sophisticated and moving on up, Dominican I am, for instance seems to be headed to Law School. But what about the majority of Dominicans? They will continue to be exploited by people like Elsa, Mayor Torres and a slew of others.

  First of all, citizen x, I dont know what ethnicity you are, but I dont subscribe to the idea that becuase someone comes from your own ethnic back ground, all Dominicans should keep quiet. What Elsa has done, she has done it for Elsa and her family, not the Dominican Community.

  From what I hear this woman has had her home foreclosed and now lives above her business.Her home was on 38th street somewhere…. I was under the impression if you lost a home (filed bancrutpcy) all lenders put leins on any property you may have. So………now we know why she changed her business name to Rossie Elsie?!?!?!?!   WOW! Jacqui R. I am very impress. The way that you defend this person- is she family? Do you work for her? Are you a friend?

  Jacqui, I am enjoying PatersonOnline more than ever. It is the first time that I see such an expression of free speech- some of us have the right to ask this person about the parade budget. I had lived all my life in Paterson and had never been to this person shop. I know her firsthand however; I am not interested in what she supposedly does for the community. Though, I can tell you that it is all politic. I’ll not, however, argue with you about “Elsa” the woman since she has done (politically speaking) what other Dominican women has not- she planned, she calculated, and she waited for the right people to come. As for the toys giving (very nice of her, with/without her own money) since the only thing I care is that some misfortunate little souls (Materialistic speaking) had a gift on a day that even “Dominicans” are forgetting about it. This was a win -win situation - she gain/received what she planned and the children received a toy- simple as that! Oh! Jacqui I am a FAN of this website (Patersonian hasta la muerte). They do not like to work together (you know– a team–). Noo, they like to grab anything they can find and don’t know the word share. A small example is my beautiful Dominican Republic. I am not off topic since this example applies to the lady above mentioned. She did and does not work for the community. She works for her own agenda. Oh!! The ignorance. I always said, “God let me live in the dessert without water or food, but please, I beg you, do not let me live with or near an ignorant”.

  All I can say is WOW!!! to see that this woman has created such an uproar from the beginning of the year till now is really something. I have lived in Paterson my whole life and never heard of this woman. In response to the person that said that the only people that don’t succeed or are selfish are Dominicans. In a way you are right, but it’s not only dominicans it’s the entire Latino race. Just look at the state of Latin American countries. Proof enough that not only dominicans are selfish. Hopefully this lady will be investigated and the truth be it good or bad will come out.
